Improving My “Mom Style” With Stitch Fix

As far as style goes, I’m just okay. I can put things together and make them look presentable, but fashionista, I am not. I would shop every few months from different department stores but felt like it was all the same. In an attempt to stay in tune with style but still feel comfortable, I looked into Stitch Fix. After a few minutes, I knew this was the avenue for improving my “mom style.”

The Sign-Up

Signing up was quick, efficient, and easy. After taking Stitch Fix’s personalized style quiz, I could pick what types of looks were me. There was also the option to link my stylist to my Pinterest page, full of styles I love but probably haven’t put together myself.

Once the quiz is complete, I had the option of picking different shipment schedules. There is a monthly, every other month, or quarterly option. Even if I signed up for one, I had the option to delay it if I wasn’t ready for my next fix.

The Shipment

Once I scheduled my fix, it came relatively quickly. Within 10 days I had my first fix at my door. Stitch Fix also has an awesome app that you can get notifications and track your fix. This will also be helpful to give your stylist input on your fix.

The Fix

Rose Gold Necklace – As a very basic piece but the perfect add-on to dress up any top, this necklace was for sure a keeper. It is adjustable in length and works with both silver and gold.

Gray Top – Appearing casual at first, this top surprised even me with the cute accent sleeves. It was extremely comfortable and flattering. I was able to utilize the necklace to dress it up even more for work.

Silver Peek-A-Boo Top – Again, very flattering but getting me a bit out of my comfort zone. It’s a little less work appropriate and probably better for a warmer day. Not my favorite piece but the goal is getting me to try new styles and this would be it.

Black Blazzer – A blazzer is always the perfect addition to dress up any outfit. Slip it on with dress pants and a basic top and you are ready to go to work. Try it with the same top but throw on jeans and you are styled for a night out. The loose fitting material and light weight feel will make this a yearround additional to my wardrobe.

Black Slacks – Love these! As someone who is always searching for comfortable but cute work pants, these were the biggest winner. The belt was an awesome extra touch of flare that kept them from your basic black pants.

The Review

Overall, I was extremely happy with my first fix. My stylist nailed my style but grabbed some items that I probably wouldn’t have purchased myself. This was ideally exactly what I was going for to improve my “Mom style”.

There was only one piece that I wasn’t completely in love with, the silver peek-a-boo top. But, here’s the awesome thing about purchasing Stitch Fix. If you keep anything, your $25 styling fee is waived. If you keep the whole box, you get 25% off. For me to consider returning just the one piece, I would actually be spending more money than keeping everything. But, if I did have to return something, the return label was neatly packed in with my fix with instructions for drop-off.

I was able to utilize the app to easily review each piece and give workable feedback for my stylist to keep in mind for my next fix. As I wore items to work and people commented on how cute the new style was, I was able to spread the word about Stitch Fix. The app allows me to send referrals to friends, waiving their first styling fee and earning me a $25 credit once they schedule their fix.

If you’re looking for a change, help with your style, or just an easier overall shopping experience, improve your “mom style” with Stitch Fix!
